Cleveland Elementary School History
The following is a brief history of the present facility that houses Cleveland Elementary School:
The facility was built in 1963 and housed Cleveland High School.

1972 -This was the last year the facility was a high school.
1972-1985 -The facility was a junior high school housing 7th and 8th grade students from Cleveland and Lebanon.
1985-1991 -The facility housed Cleveland's 5th, 6th, and 7th grades plus the 8th grade from Lebanon. (In 1985 the 7th grade students who lived in Lebanon were moved to Lebanon Middle School.)
1991 -The 8th grade returned to Lebanon.
1991 -Cleveland Elementary was moved to this site from its location near the Clinch River in Cleveland. Since that time, the school has housed grades K-7.
2003-2005 -Our facility housed Cleveland's Head Start through 7th grade and the 7th grade students from the Belfast/Rosedale/Lebanon areas.
2006-Present -Our facility houses Cleveland's Head Start through 7th grade students.
The school sits on 22 acres of land.
This large campus allows for outside activities that expand the educational opportunities available at Cleveland.
The campus includes a running track, basketball goal, a ball field, and a playground for young children.
Our facility houses a gymnasium that seats 500, an 800-seat auditorium, a 200-seat cafeteria, a networked computer lab, an automated library, two science labs, a band room, fourteen classrooms, and an administrative suite.
We are proud of our building and campus. Thanks to the years of hard work by our excellent custodians and the vision of our principal, our County School Board members, and Central Office staff, our facility continues to provide an effective environment for learning.
