EMORY, Va. – Less than three weeks ago, Chilhowie baseball player Noah Hill broke the index finger on his left hand.
One day later, the senior right-hander threw a one-hit shutout.
Hill’s latest act in Friday’s Hogoheegee District tournament championship was even more impressive.
Hill needed just 83 pitches to record a five-hitter with eight strikeouts as the Warriors posted a 3-1 win over the Honaker Tigers at Emory & Henry.
“I’m just really happy to be back out here playing with my teammates,” Hill said. “No matter what, I was going to try and finish out the season.
The injury happened when Hill dove for a fly ball in the outfield.
Hill was forced to keep his injured finger extended out of his glove in his first game back on the mound. On Friday, he relied on a fastball, curve and his defense to frustrate the Honaker batters.
