HONAKER, Va. – That was indeed a quarterback wearing No. 1 for the Honaker High School Tigers on Friday night zipping accurate passes all over the field.

That familiar sight was accompanied by a familiar stat line as the laser-focused signal-caller went 13-of-24 through the air for 252 yards with three touchdowns and zero interceptions in a 40-34 road win over Lee High in a VHSL Benefit Game.

This was a future star doing his thing at Five Star Stadium and not the dude folks have become accustomed to as far as delivering such performances for the Tigers over the three previous seasons.

Parker Lowe is Honaker’s new starting QB and he happens to be a freshman.

The newcomer is wearing the same jersey number his predecessor, Peyton Musick, did when he rewrote the Tigers’ record book.

“You lose a guy like Peyton Musick, who threw for over 100 touchdowns and over 8,000 yards in three seasons anytime a program loses a guy like that, it’s pretty tough. Parker understands the situation,” said Honaker coach Aaron Lowe, who is also Parker’s father. “He’s just a freshman but he’s been playing quarterback a long time, he’s been in this offense for a long time and knows it well. He knows he’s got big shoes to fill, but he also knows he has to be calm and collected.”
