Honaker 33, Patrick Henry 28
Cole Morrison’s 15-yard touchdown run with 2:06 remaining turned out to be the game-winner as Honaker used a fourth-quarter comeback to triumph for the second week in a row.
Patrick Henry (2-6) had taken a 28-27 lead with 4:49 left on the clock after Jeb Stewart returned a kickoff 85 yards to paydirt, but Honaker (4-4) didn’t panic and responded with a five-play, 78-yard drive that culminated in Morrison’s score.
Honaker overcame a 28-13 fourth-quarter deficit to beat Narrows the week before.
“Just proud of our guys,” said Honaker coach Aaron Lowe. “That was a big win for us tonight. We showed a lot of grit and held in there for 48 minutes and found a way to win.”
While Honaker’s Air Raid offense once again put up good numbers, Morrison had a productive night running the ball. He piled up 150 yards on 18 carries.
“Cole was the man tonight,” Lowe said. “He ran hard. We leaned on him down the stretch and he carried us.”
Parker Lowe threw for 177 yards and three touchdowns on 17-of-25 passing, while Kamden Beavers tossed a touchdown pass to Blair Clark and also caught a scoring strike from Lowe.
Levi Honaker (six catches, 85 yards) scored a pair of touchdowns and Eli McGlothlin made 10 tackles.
Stewart once again starred for PH as he rushed for 121 yards and two touchdowns to go along with his kickoff return. He also played well on defense with double-digit tackles.
Patrick Henry’s first score came on Mason Hutton’s touchdown pass to Kallum Gobble.
“Patrick Henry played us hard,” Aaron Lowe said.
