Honaker 38, Rural Retreat 32

A couple of young guns lit up the sky with passes but in the end freshman Parker Lowe and the Honaker Tigers outlasted Brody Allen-led Rural Retreat.

Lowe was 32-of-40 for 323 yards and four touchdowns as Honaker (6-4) won its fourth straight. Tyler Hubbard (12 catches, 134 yards, two TDs) was the most productive receiver.

Levi Honaker (nine catches, 89 yards) and Kamden Beavers also secured TD grabs.

Honaker also got going in the ground game was Malachi Gilbert went for 59 yards on nine carries and scored twice. In all, Honaker finished with 462 yards of total offense.

“Proud of our guys,” said Honaker coach Aaron Lowe. “It’s always good to come away with the win when you go on the road and face a good football team like Rural Retreat. I thought our offensive line played big tonight. We were able to run the football and throw the football.”

Defensively, Maddox Sykes made seven tackles and Jeremiah Rose recorded an interception.

Rural Retreat got 203 passings and four TDs from Allen, who has been filling in for injured starting quarterback Chaz Penwright.
