Sophomore Julianna “JuJu” Farmer went for 21 points, eight rebounds and seven steals as the Honaker Tigers topped Chilhowie 54-48 in the finals of the Hogoheegee District girls basketball tournament on Thursday.

Honaker fell behind 15-9 after one quarter and trailed 22-20 at halftime. However, Farmer scored 11 points in the third quarter as the Tigers took control.

“Ju has played big for us all year, but tonight she really stepped up for us again,” said Honaker coach Misty Davis Miller. “I have been stressing a refuse to lose attitude and that’s exactly what she had. She filled the stat line tonight.”

Carey Keene added 14 points, nine rebounds, five blocks and three assists, while Cheyenne Musick hauled down eight rebounds.

“I’m really proud of our girls tonight,” Miller said. “We didn’t have our best shooting night, but they stepped up and made it happen on the defensive end.”
